Who would have thought that three little words could make such a difference in a life?  I would never have imagined it until the day my husband's doctor spoke three of the most life changing words that anyone can ever hear "You have cancer".  My husband was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma on Jan. 16, 2001 and our lives have been different ever since. 

We have been blessed. 

We are one of the lucky ones. 

My husband has been cancer free since July of 2001. 

My experience as a care giver while my husband was going through treatment was at times a very frustrating one.  I was watching him fight for his very life and there wasn't a darn thing that I could do to help.  I'm a doer.  I had to DO something to help in his fight.  That need resulted in our family becoming involved with our local American Cancer Society's Relay For Life event.  Since 2001, our rag-tag little group of about 12 family members and friends have raised over $80,000 for the American Cancer Society.  The I Will Wear Pink project is the latest in our attempt to keep that total growing, to show our thanks for the blessings of good health that my husband has received, and to do our part to help fund the fight to find the cure so that others may be as fortunate.

Through our involvement with the American Cancer Society, we have made many dear friends whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer.  Some are still with us and some are not.  These women have taught me so much about life, faith, and courage I can't even begin to put it into words.  Donna and Peggy, this one is for you.
